Roger Chillingworth Cures Boy of Mysterious Disease!
Last night our local doctor, Dr. Chillingworth performed his magic for us once again in the curing of a young Benjamin! Young Benjamin had been complaining to his mother that his stomach had been hurting the previous day, and not soon after he had become quite ill.
His mother rushed him out to the Dr. Chillingworth's cottage in the field where the Holy Reverend Dimmesdale was with the good doctor. The Reverend gave the young boy a prayer and left the doctor to cure the boy of his ailment.
The doctor began his basic treatment in an attempt to bring the boy's fever down, but after he realized his attempts were unsuccessful he began taking a more drastic approach to the boy's treatment. The boy's mother tells us how feverishly the doctor worked: "He wiped his brow and ran back and forth inside of his little cottage, grabbing herbs after herbs and mixing them with such feverish precision I began to gain hope, a man who works that hard does not fail."
No doubt about it, a man who works that hard does not simply fail. After working for nearly two hours straight the doctor finishes what seems to be some sort of medicine created by a mixture of herbs. The boy takes it, and gags at the taste, but swallows it all. Within the next hour color begins returning to his cheeks and the little boy begins to smile again. The mother is crying with happiness and thanking the tired old doctor. At the end of the day there was nothing but a sense of relief to all who knew. We managed to get a brief statement from the doctor, "I really don't know how I did that, just a bit of knowledge and a lot of luck in play."
And there you have it. Just another regular day for Roger Chillingworth. With God by his side and his knowledge of the medical world, God guided the good doctor's hands to saving young Benjamin's life!
